Apple's iPad Mini release date is rumored to be around a similar time as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The devices are two different types of gadgets - Galaxy Note 2 being similar to a smartphone and a tablet, with the iPad Mini being a smaller version of the original iPad. However, they are both staking territory in the same market at the same time. The iPad Mini release date and the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in the fall will each include notable features.

On the iPad Mini release date, Apple fans can expect a 7.85 inch display, as opposed to the current 9.7 inch iPads. It would cost about $199, similar to the Google Nexus 7 tablet, rumors suggest.

"It would be the competitors' worst nightmare," Shaw Wu, an analyst at Sterne Agee & Leach Inc. told Bloomberg. The Google Nexus 7 tablet and Amazon's Kindle Fire would be directly targeted by the Apple iPad Mini, challenging it's smaller screen, Forbes said.

"Apple's plan for a tablet with a smaller screen is part of a textbook business strategy: to lure customers who want different sizes of tablets into the iPad product family, say analysts and technology industry executives," The New York Times reported.

Although the exact specs of the Galaxy Note 2 has not been confirmed, it is rumored to feature a 5.5 inch display, which will be "unbreakable," along with a faster processor and improved camera. It is set to rival Apple's upcoming iPad Mini and the highly anticipated next generation iPhone 5.

According to latest specs rumors by Seoul Newspaper, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will come with a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor, 5.5 inch AMOLED display, 4G LTE connectivity, 16/32GB storage, 8 MP camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

iPhone 5 release date rumors also continue as Samsung promises to fight against the ban Apple has placed on their products in the U.S. The Samsung/Apple lawsuit progresses as Apple prepares for a rumored iPhone 5 release date of Sept. 21.

According to a report by PC World, the Korean company vowed on Tuesday, Aug. 28, to "take all necessary measures" to maintain retail in the U.S. Just Monday, Apple issued a request at the U.S. District Court for Northern California to ban eight of Samsung's products from being sold in the U.S. Samsung, however, will have the option of appealing any injunction or filing a motion to stop it. According to Examiner, the eight products include the S 4G, S2 AT&T, S2 Skyrocket, S2 T-Mobile, S2 Epic 4G and the Galaxy Prevail. The latest Samsung Galaxy S III is not part of the eight products.

On Friday, a court ruling declared that 28 of Samsung's products had trespassed against Apple's patent; $1.05 billion was given to Apple from Samsung for damages. While Apple may try to ban all Samsung products in the U.S., the Korean company is not taking the lawsuit lightly. Samsung intends on appealing the decision made on Friday. Apple remains at the center of attention as the iPhone 5 is rumored to be announced during an Apple conference on Sept. 12 and up for sale on Sept. 21.

Samsung made an announcement that it will be rolling out its classic Galaxy S3 smartphone in many brand new mineral and gemstone-themed colors, just in time for the autumn season.

The phone itself will now be available in the following colors: amber brown, garnet red, titanium grey and sapphire black. Samsung had stated that the availability will vary based on the country and carrier, or retailer within the customer's area.

The latest colors will join up with the already used pebble blue and marble white ones. The Galaxy S3 is 4.8 in inches and has a 1280x720 display. It runs Android 4.0 and also features a rear-facing camera with 8-megapixels and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
