Captain America: Civil War could see Steve Rogers pass his shield to a new Captain.

'Supernatural' Season 10 Spoilers: Sam Gets A Visitor From The Past, Who Will It Be?

It was recently reported that Chris Evan's Caps will bite the dust at the end of Civil War, and the speculation has fans wondering who could take the First Avengers place.

Buck Barns/The Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) are believed to be the current front runners to inherit Caps iconic shield. Mackie, who is confirmed for an appearance in Civil War, referenced comic book canon when talking about Wilson's future.

According to Mackie, Falcon is second inline for Caps job, preceded only by Bucky. When Bucky gives the shield back to its original owner, the star-spangled vibranium is passed to Falcon.

"Then Bucky goes off and marries Black Widow, so I keep the shield, give it back to Cap, and recently Cap wanted to be old, so he gave me the shield back and now I got the shield; I'm not giving it back," Mackie teased, according to Windy City Live (via Comic Book Movie).

The MCU doesn't always follow comic book cannon, so it remains to be seen how closely writers will adhere to Caps' line of succession.
