Colin Farrell is finally opening up about his role on True Detective, as well as that new mustache he's been sporting.

Will 'True Detective' Be Dropped After 3 Seasons?

Last year the 38-year-old actor was cast as the crime drama's compromised Detective Ray Velcoro, though he's remained relatively quiet about the series since the announcement was made. On Friday, however, Farrell sat down with the LA Times to discuss his involvement with the show.

"I'm tied to [the 'stache] now," noted the actor in discussing that famous mustache. "Because of what I do for a living, I haven't gotten my hair cut in a salon in 15 years. Between jobs, I just let it all grow out. I have a lot of gray in my hair and I wanted to have gray hair for True Detective, but it was hard because of dye jobs for other roles."

'True Detective' Star A Regular At The Yoga Studio?

"I try to have a blank a canvas as possible when going into a new gig," he added.

When he isn't busy with production, Farrell likes to keep things pretty informal. "If I could live in pajamas, I would live in pajamas," he admitted. "I have been caught a few times going to the local coffee ship wearing pj's. I'm just one of those [guys] who goes for comfort first. Pretty ease…I am low-maintenance."

The laid-back actor certainly seems a far way off from his character, who is wound pretty tight as he struggles between remaining loyal to the criminals who own him and the police department he serves.

Alongside Farrell, True Detective is set to star Vince Vaughn (career criminal Frank Semyon), Racehl McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).

True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
