The "Poker Face" singer performed in a tribute to The Sound of Music, which led to the musical's star Julie Andrews walking on stage to hug Gaga and give her a special thanks. Not only that, but it appears that these two might be the latest gal pals.

"I was deeply honored by the Academy's lovely tribute to The Sound of Music, and especially touched by Lady Gaga's wonderful performance," Andrews told People, posted on Gossip Cop on Monday.

"I have always been a fan, but last night we bonded and now I have a new friend," the musical sensation added.

When Gaga performed at the Oscars, she took on a different approach from her usual bizarre techniques with odd outfits and dream-like sequences. This time she wore an elegant white dress and let her long hair flow down as she belted out in her high-octave range. She sang classic hits from the musical starring Andrews, including "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things" and "Climb Every Mountain."

The 79-year-old said that Gaga's rendition "warmed her heart" and made her feel proud to be part of a legendary film.

"How lucky can a girl get?" the star said.
