The writer isn't afraid to speak her mind, as was evident on Tuesday when she responded to a reader's question on Twitter about the character of Dumbledore being gay.

Though the questioner's tweet as since been deleted, the original question from Ana Kocovic (@anacocovic21) read "Thank you so much for writing Harry Potter. I was wondering why you said that Dumbledore is a gay because I can't see him that way."

Rowling's response was simple and incredibly well received by fans, landing 23,920 favorites and 18,741 retweets.

Perhaps as a result of backlash who considered the questioner's comment insensitive, Kocovic appears to have since deleted her account, the handle for which seems to have been taken over by someone else entirely. If not, then. Kocovic redsigned the account and deleted all of her previous messages.

According to The Independent on Tuesday, Kocovic did send one more message to Rowling after reading the writer's response, though this message was ultimately deleted as well. "Amazing answer…Yes you are absolutely right," she wrote. "Such an inspiration!!!" Some deemed Kocovic's initial question offensive, which likely led to her deletion of the tweet, though Rowling quickly jumped to the young woman's defense. On Wednesday the author informed fans on Twitter that a few peoople have been "rushing to judgement without the facts" and wanted them to know that Kocovic "did NOT ask an offensive question" about Dumbledore.

Rowling continued by claiming that her answer to the question had been "gentle" and that Kocovic's response had been "very sweet."

At this time, there appears to have been no further communication between Rowling and the fan since this incident.
