There were pretty big hints about Emma going to the dark side in the most recent episode of Once Upon a Time but O'Donoghue (who plays Hook on the series) won't say if she is getting even darker.

"We've seen moments where you could see where Emma could maybe become darker," O'Donoghue noted in a new interview with TVLine. "Whether or not she does is a whole other thing."

The actor explained that ultimately it is never as simple as someone being all villain or all hero, which is part of the theme of the second half of season 4.

"The second half of this season is about the struggles that heroes and villains each have. And what great about the show is it's never cut and dry," O'Donoghue said. "It's never as easy as a villain is a straight villain or the heroes are pure heroes. They've all done something that they regret, but learn from it in a positive way."

Unfortunately fans will have to wait two weeks to see the fate of Emma as the series is off next Sunday. The series returns on Sunday, April 12 in its usual 8 p.m. timeslot.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
