The "official legacy trailer" is a riot, starting off from footage from the orginal 1979 movie starring Mel Gibson in the titular role.

"Over three decades ago mastermind George Miller broke every rule" the tag line begins.

Fury Road Cost More Than Previous Mad Max Films Put Together

The stunning visuals from the apocalyptic fantasy emphasize the continuity between all three films, and how Fury Road is but an ode to the original two.

"I remember a time with chaos, this wasted land and most of all I remember the road warrior, the man we called Max," runs the narrated voiceover, which is interspersed with some dialogue from the first film.

"All the power, all the chaos, has led to now" the tag line concludes as the clip moves into rushes from the Fury Road.

In a recent interview for the cover story of Esquire's May issue, Charlize Theron, who plays Imperator Furiosa in Fury Road, spoke about how strenuous the experience was and how she and co-star Tom Hardy, who plays the titular character in the film, also had their moments of difficulty working together.

"It's material that's really frightening - we didn't have a script. Tom and I are actors who take our jobs seriously," she said. "Both of us want to please the directors we work with, and when you don't know if you can deliver on that, it's a frightening place to be - and for Tom more than me, because he was stepping into big shoes."

The film also stars Nicholas Hoult as Nux.

Mad Max Fury Road will hit theaters on May 15.
