As news about the development of Fast and Furious 8 has been trickling through, actor Kurt Russell's involvement has been strongly rumoured.

Paul Walker's Character To Be Replaced By Brother, Cody, In Furious 8?

In Furious 7 the actor played the part of Mr. Nobody, the leader of a covert operations team who helps Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew. In recent interviews the actor alluded to the possibility of his reprising his part in the eighth instalment of the series.

In his most recent interview as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Russell hinted at where things could go from here on out for his character.

Furious 7 Should Win Best Oscar, According To Vin Diesel

"I got an idea, a sense of what Vin maybe wants to do in the future that this character could be a good part of," he said. "We created somebody that I think is, you know, he's a mystery man, he's 'Mr. Nobody' we never know his name and you never know quite what world he's in and I think that's what's fun and exciting about it," Russell said to Kimmel, sporting an outrageous mustache for his new movie. "If they do more and if it goes on, we'll try to do something to top this, which I'll tell you is going to be pretty hard to do."

In most of his interviews for the film, the actor has been hinting at his return in the next film. Speaking to IGN in February, he did suggest that while doing justice to the character arc was most important to him, he does hope that "the character moves on." When he was particularly asked if he would be part of Fast and Furious 8 by the publication he had gave a mixed reponse but it leant more toward his involvement in the movies.

"That's going to be interesting," Russell said. "Because the character has been purposely been treated in a certain way so that he can or can't. The 'can' will be an interesting stretch. It works, because I understand what it is and we came up with it. It's like, 'Oh, wow! That's cool!' If he doesn't, then he doesn't. If he gets killed, he gets killed. That will be for them to determine. I just wanted to be able to work with them making the best possible character to either be sad he doesn't move on or say, 'Yeah, I want this character to move on -- we need this character to move on.' That sort of thing. I don't know what the situation, with Paul dying, does to that. I don't know."

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
