Stana Katic is officially returning to ABC's Castle for season 8, releasing a statement about her excitement in regard to coming back.

Senator Bracken Coming Back to 'Castle' in Season 8?

Katic (who plays Kate Beckett) signed the dotted line this week to keep starring in Castle. The actress had been holding out for a while amid some uncertainty about the show potentially ending, but ABC renewed it earlier this month. Now both Katic and Nathan Fillion (who plays Rick Castle) are returning for another year.

The actress took to Twitter on Tuesday to confirm her return to Castle.

'Castle' Boss Says Finale Was 'Challenging' To Write Amid Renewal Buzz

"I'm so pleased to announce that, after talking with our new show runners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley (both of whom I've had the pleasure of working with on the show before) I'm excited about the future plans for Beckett and delighted to be returning for a Season 8 of Castle," she wrote.

As Katic is referring to, Castle is seeing more upheaval behind the scenes with Winter and Hawley taking over as new show runners. They are replacing David Amann, who only ran the show for season 7 after taking over for series creator Andrew W. Marlowe.

The news of Katic signing a new deal is a good thing, considering the season 7 finale on Monday featured a cliffhanger regarding Beckett's future. She was offered the opportunity to potentially run for New York State Senate. We will likely see her decision when Castle returns for its season 8 premiere this fall.

Castle returns for season 8 this fall Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
