Emmy nominations are only a month away, and the producers behind Dancing With the Stars are hoping for another nomination in the Best Reality-Competition Program category. While they have never won the Emmy, they could receive their 10th nomination in the category.

Dancing With the Stars show runner Rob Wade recently spoke with Deadline and revealed why he thinks the show has survived so long as it continues to receive Emmy nominations.

"People can spot a forced fight or a forced reality moment a mile away, and they need honesty," Wade explained. "I think we're doing that well. We're breaking down the barriers between the viewers and backstage areas so they can access the show to a greater extent now."

The Reality-Competition Program category has been one of the most stubbornly consistent categories at the Emmys, with the same six shows being nominated for the past three years consecutively. Dancing With the Stars has been sharing the category with CBS's The Amazing Race, Lifetime's Project Runway, Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, Bravo's Top Chef and NBC's The Voice since 2012.

Only three reality shows have won this category since its invention in 2003. Top Chef and The Voice have won one Emmy each, while The Amazing Race has won a whopping 10 Emmys. It remains to be seen if Dancing With the Stars or any other show can break the stranglehold The Amazing Race has in this category in 2015.
