By way of announcing a new cast member addition to season 7 of The Good Wife, the show might have given away a crucial plot point.

The Good Wife Renewed For Two More Seasons?

The show is getting a new campaign manager and there is only one main character on the show that would seek such assistance. Recently, Deadline reported that Margo Martindale, who is known for her work on Justified and The Americans, will have a recurring role as a "campaign operative responsible for past successes by underdog presidential candidates in Iowa who hides her intelligence and cunning under a fake, folksy charm."

In the finale of season 6 Peter Florrick's (Chris Noth) wish to run for presidency was met with disapproval by Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Initially Peter had sought the consent of the family as they would need to go through the whole ordeal of campaigning with him, putting up a face of unity. This storyline was left off at Alicia stating that she didn't want Peter to run for president, leaving us with the question if Peter will disregard Alicia's concern.

Alicia's Daughter Won't Be Returning For Season 7?

Now it seems like he will be doing just that, as Martindale's addition hints at the presidential storyline sticking.

The next chapter of the legal drama is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
