TVLine reported that Makenzie Vega, who plays Grace Florrick in The Good Wife, has been removed as a series regular for season 7.

The Good Wife Renewed For Two More Seasons?

Could this mean Grace will also be shipped off to an out-of-state college like her brother Zach (Graham Phillips) was in season 5? There might not be a reason to be alarmed as this is only a change of official status on paper, and Grace did not appear as frequently on the CBS legal drama to begin with, so perhaps she is justifiably joining the ranks of recurring characters now.

In fact the report also goes on to reveal that the show pulled three series regulars after season 6, the other two are Archie Panjabi and Matthew Goode, whose characters have also made their exits from the show.

Critics Unforgiving Of Controversial Season 6 Finale Scene Of The Good Wife

But the producers are making up for these losses with new cast members. Most recently the addition of a new series regular was announced. Reports revealed that Extant star Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the cast of the next chapter of The Good Wife and he will be batting for Alicia's team. The actor has been cast as Alicia's new private investigator.

There is still no word on who will replace Kalinda for Cary Agos Lee, but she will sure be given tough competition by Alicia's new private eye. CBS has described the new character as "a calm, experienced hourly investigator."

The next chapter of the legal drama is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
