Once Upon a Time star Jennifer Morrison recently spoke about "Dark" Emma and how the darkness actually makes her more free.

Why 'Once Upon a Time' Producers Tricked Fans With Fake Casting For Rumple's Mom

Fans saw Emma sacrifice herself to the darkness in the season 4 finale of Once Upon a Time and now that she's the "Dark Swan," she'll be less inhibited to do the right thing all the time. Morrison spoke with BuddyTV and other reporters in a new video from Comic-Con posted recently:

According to Morrison, Emma is now free from being responsible "in the darkest way you can imagine." She is now "completely selfish and completely free of her responsibility" and "almost sociopathic in a way."

'Once Upon a Time's Emma Does Not Automatically Become The 'Dark One' In Premiere

For four seasons, Emma has been the grounded one in a cast full of crazy, emotional characters. Now that Emma has shifted to the dark side, anything can happen and she is free to act selfishly.

"Emotionally, it's interesting because there's something really fun and free about Emma in the darkness. She's just free of the gravity of what other people think, the gravity of worrying about saving people," Morrison said. "There's lightness in a sense in the darkness because she doesn't have to do the right thing. She doesn't have to try to be the stronger, better person all the time."

The first photos of "Dark" Emma were teased recently, with the character taking on a more dark and stylist wardrobe than her usual jeans and t-shirts.

Once Upon a Time season 5 premieres Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
