Kim Kardashian kicked off her trip to the Middle East on Wednesday as the reality star touched down in Kuwait.

Kardashian, 32, is visiting the region to make appearances as several brand new Millions of Milkshake shops.

But while she's there, she has also pledged to meet with local leaders and learn more about the conflicts in the Middle East. She began that mission on Wednesday by taking a formal meeting with Matthew Tueller, the United States ambassador to Kuwait.

Once she wraps things up in Kuwait, Kardashian is scheduled to head for Bahrain. But legislators in Bahrain's parliament attempted to push through a resolution this week to prevent Kardashian from coming into the country because of her "bad reputation," the Al-Wasat newspaper reported.

But legislators in Bahrain's parliament attempted to push through a resolution this week to prevent Kardashian from coming into the country because of her "bad reputation," the Al-Wasat newspaper reported.

"A group of MPs in today's paliamentary session submitted a proposal to prevent the hosting of American socialite Kim Kardashian, describing her as having a 'bad reputation,' " the newspaper report said.

Ultimately, though, the resolution did not move forward, and the report said "quorum to have the proposal put on the agenda was not met."

Kardashian vowed to learn more about the Middle East after a Twitter controversy erupted when she posted a couple political tweets regarding conflict in the Middle East on Nov. 16.

Kardashian tweeted that she was "praying for everyone in Israel," and later on she wrote that she was "praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world," according to a report from USA Today.

Her words drew a firestorm of negative comments from some followers, including death threats. Twitter users sent messages to Kardashian with angry comments like, "You are a disgrace to your people and your ancestors, educate yourself" and "further enhancing your reputation as a dumb porn star."
