The comic book superheroes of "The Avengers" and comedy romance "Silver Linings Playbook" ruled at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday on a night packed with irreverent jokes about body parts and sneak peeks of some of the year's biggest upcoming films.

The Avengers is about a team of super humans that together help to save planet earth from evil. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hiddleston - who was nominated on Sunday for Best Villian.

Pop singer Selena Gomez performed her new song Come & Get It for the first time ever at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. The track is off of Gomez's upcoming album, set to release this summer. An audio teaser for the Come and Get It was released on Ryan Seacrest's website on April 6, eight days before Gomez was scheduled to perform the track at the MTV Movie Awards.

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards red carpet begins at 8:3-pm EST then the ceremony will air live on April 14 at 9 p.m. ET. It will be held at the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, Calif. MTV will offer fans a chance to see their favorite movie stars before the ceremony on their home computer, tablet or mobile phone via several free live streams here.
