In an ongoing debate over the Harvey Weinstein scandal, there have been mixed and controversial statements made in regards to handling the epidemic.

When the scandal first made deadlines, actor Matt Damon with fellow actor George Clooney, stated that there needed to be a sweeping change not just in Hollywood but in every workplace in America.

Damon, who is a father of three daughters, also stated that he wasn't surprised by the allegations against Weinstein as the movie mogul was a womanizer and tough to work with. He was also aware of Weinstein harassing actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, as she was dating his friend, actor Ben Affleck at that time.

On Monday, Damon came under fire for suggesting that all accusations shouldn't be handled the same. The actor referenced comedian Louis C.K.'s apology where C.K. admitted that the allegations against him were true.

Damon's comments landed him in hot water with his ex-girlfriend, Minnie Driver, and Alyssa Milano. Damon is now once again offering a new solution to Hollywood's problem and that's by defending the men in the industry who haven't sexually harassed anyone.

Damon's Defense

The Bourne Identity star thinks that the media should focus more on the men in Hollywood that aren't making headlines for sexual misconduct.

"We're in this watershed moment, and it's great, but I think one thing that's not being talked about is there are a whole s--tload of guys - the preponderance of men I've worked with - who don't do this kind of thing and whose lives aren't going to be affected," Damon said.

The actor elaborated that he wouldn't want work with any director that was accused of sexual assault but would want to know all the facts before he makes any accusations.

Damon's debatable comments have once again caused an uproar on social media. Actresses Debra Messing and Rose McGowan responded their shock and disappointment in Damon on Twitter.

Does Damon need to keep his mouth shut or is he right about a "witch hunt" in Hollywood?
