Phyllis Summers will be waking up from her coma very soon.

Meredith Baxter Joins Cast As Nikki Newman's 'Drinking Buddy'

Soaps.com reported on Thursday that Gina Tognoni will make her first appearance as the character on The Young and the Restless on Monday, Aug. 11.

The character, which made her debut on the show in 1994 with actress Michelle Stafford, has been in the hospital for a year now after suffering a brain trauma from a staircase fall.

Although, Phyllis' fiancé, Jack Abbott, hoped that she would wake up from the coma, he started spending some time with Kelly Andrews. However, Jack and Phyllis' daughter, Summer, didn't approve of her father's new romance.

In turn, Jack promised Summer that if her mother ever wakes up from the coma, he would be with her no matter what. Will Jack stick to his word when Phyllis returns?

"Phyllis Summers has been cast! Does this mean she's coming out of her coma?" the show's official Twitter account teased on May 22.

Tognoni, a two-time Emmy winner, landed the role after having a "flawless" audition, a rep told TVGuide.com in May. The 40-year-old actress is no stranger to soap operas. She starred as Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live from 1995 to 2011 and Dinah Marler on Guiding Light from 2004 to 2009.

-- The Young and the Restless airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
