The cast and crew of Penny Dreadful has some high praise for the show's second season.

Showtime Makes Last Minute Changes For 'Penny Dreadful'

Last month director James Hawes finished up production on his last episode of the season and ever since he's been busy in the editing room getting things ready for the program's premiere.

On Feb. 6 Hawes shared a photo from the editing process, insisting that the new episodes are sure to "thrill" fans this season.

Hawes has been on board for most of production, helming about half of the show's new episodes.

Despite more "thrilling" scenes, the Victorian supernatural drama might just be behind schedule. On Feb. 6 Variety announced that the premiere date for the series this year has been pushed back from April 26, meaning the show won't begin until May. It is uncertain why Showtime elected to make the change, though it won't influence much aside from the fact that the season will run an extra week near the end.

With the larger scale and major changes this season, Showtime is betting that fans will find the new episodes well worth the wait.

Production for the show's second installment is still underway in Dublin.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season on Sunday, May 3.
