Originally, costume designer Elif Inanc wanted Abby to have two dresses, but eventually settled on designing the one that she wore for the nuptials.

CBS chatted with Inanc all about Abby's dress, revealing some interesting facts.

"I knew I wanted two looks for Abby's wedding--a ceremony dress and a dress for the reception--but in the end, I decided on one dress that can have two looks with a removable skirt," the costume designer dished, explaining the vision for Abby's wedding gown as, "I wanted her dress to be Audrey Hepburn, Dior classic, with a modern edge, and Kay Wataguchi, our amazing seamstress made this happen."

The two dresses plan was meant to capture Abby's personality and the two designs were essentially combined in a sense to bring all of Abby's personality to the forefront.

"The dress is two dresses in one," the soap opera's costume designer stated, explaining, "In one moment it's elegant and sophisticated, and the next it's short and sassy."

The dress' fabric is Inanc's "favorite detail."

The fabrics used actually came from various places around the world.

"I went to New York City to get the Chantilly lace, and the silk tulle came from England, which made all the difference in the overall look of the dress," Inanc disclosed.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
