Fans were more than excited when the first official trailer for Game Thrones was released in February, and fans have become more enticed when HBO released 12 new posters that feature the most popular and infamous characters of the show.

Less than a month from now, HBO will reel fans back to Westros for the third season of George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones.  With the implication of a huge boost in sales of Season 2 of the series on Blu-ray and DVD, the series may come back with a group of new viewers.

The poster features Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Ayra Stark (Maisie Williams), Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Robb Stark (Richard Madden), Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Tyrion Lannister.

Game of Thrones has become one of HBO's most popular and critically acclaimed original programs, winning seven Emmy Awards since its debut in 2011. Series co-star Peter Dinklage also nabbed a supporting actor Golden Globe for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in 2012, the same year the series received the Hugo Award for best dramatic presentation.

Season three will include 10 episodes and will be based on A Storm of Swords, the third novel in George R.R. Martin's best-selling "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. Part of the new season was filmed in Iceland, as can be seen in the trailer, according to CBS.

The one minute trailer begins with a character saying in voiceover, "It's been a long time, my old friend" as Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) walks into a room.

Game of Thrones returns Sunday, Mar. 31, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
