During a recent stand-up routine, the Oscar Award winning actress singled out a sermon delivered by Bishop Jakes, 66, last December, in which he urged his congregation to "come out of the closet."

"Come out the closet, quit keeping a secret and let the world know if it had not been for the Lord that was on my side, I would have been swallowed up ... have you ever been swallowed up," Jakes stated. "Have you gone through a time of swallowing, where everything was overwhelming and you were at your wit's end. That is my point of view."

Mo'Nique, currently on tour with Kat Williams, incorporated the clip into her comedy routine during a performance in Louisville, KY, on April 12th.

In a clip posted on Gossip of the City's Instagram page, Mo'Nique, 56, was recorded saying, "You blowing my motherf*****g mind because you are looking like you a Man of God, T.D. Jakes." She continued, "Have you ever been swallowed? How the f**k is this n***a talking about d**k sucking on the pulpit? I'm like, 'Yes, n***a I been swallowed, have you?' "

She continued the joke, referring to Tyler Perry's most iconic film and TV characters, stating, "And who swallowed you? Madea? Hellllurrr!"

Following the release of the short clip, fans defended Mo'Nique's bold and unabashed comedic style, welcoming her return to unfiltered and explicit language.

"I love that we're getting back to what comedy used to be. Comedy used to have no limits. And before Monique became a big actress, she was an even funnier comedian," one commenter said.

However, many found the Baltimore, Maryland, native's joke distasteful.

One commenter pointed out, "She clearly didn't watch the sermon, God said touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm," while another clarified, "That is not what T.D. Jakes was talking about though. He was talking about being caught up in the spirit."

Neither Jakes or Perry, 54, have spoken out about the jokes.

The Dallas megachurch pastor of The Potter's House was mentioned in a lawsuit that associates him with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Rodney Jones, a former music producer for Combs’ Bad Boy Records, accuses Combs, 54, and several of his associates of participating in a "sex trafficking venture."

The lawsuit alleges that Jones has “irrefutable evidence” of the hip-hop trailblazer planning to "leverage his relationship with Jakes to soften the impact on his public image of Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit.”
