Marvel fans may have gleefully uttered the phrase 'Coulson Lives' hundreds of times since Agents of SHIELD kicked off its inaugural season, but they may be closer than ever to finding out the reason behind the agent's revival.

After a week off, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returns this week with "FZZT." As the SHIELD team works to identify the killer of several levitating bodies, Coulson will reveal how skeptical he is of his alleged eight seconds of death.

As the lead agent attempts to comfort a dying man that he seems unable to save, Coulson reveals that he is certain that he was dead for far longer than his coworkers have let on.

"Listen to me. I've been where you are right now. Please believe me when I say you don't have to be afraid," Coulson says to a dying fireman. "Your job gets pretty dangerous, doesn't it? Mine too. I Got hurt once, pretty bad. And I died. Some say it was only fir eight seconds but I know it was more than that. I know I wasn't here anymore, I was there."
