For the second time in as many years, actor Sam Worthington was arrested on Sunday following a scuffle with photographers.

The 37-year-old was arrested in New York City after he allegedly punched photographer Sheng Li in the face four times, after Li allegedly tripped Lara Bingle, Worthington's girlfriend, while taking pictures of the couple.

After police arrived both Li and Worthington were led away in handcuffs. Worthington was later issued a desk ticket and released, while Li was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

This is the second time the Avatar actor has been arrested after getting into a scuffle.

Back in 2012, he was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia after arguing with a doorman as he tried to gain access to the Vortex Bar and Grill Restaurant. When he was denied access for allegedly not having proper identification, he reportedly pushed the doorman twice before getting pepper sprayed.

Those charges were later dropped when the doorman failed to show up in court.

Bingle and Worthington have reportedly been dating since late last year, when Worthington confirmed the romance by saying he was "smitten" with the 26-year-old model.

They reportedly began dating in September after being introduced by mutual friend Natalie Imbruglia. Before getting together, Worthington was previously linked with actress Sophie Monk, while Bingle ended a relationship with Ksubi designer Gareth Moody earlier in 2013.
