Nintendo Power will be ending publication after more than 20 years of being a main source of gaming news. Nintendo Power senior editor, Chris Hoffman, and writer, Phil Theobald, seemed to confirm the end of the magazine via Twitter posts that have now been deleted.

According to Art Technica, Hoffman posted that he is "sad to see it go," adding that he and his team would "try to make the last issue memorable." Theobald wrote he has "something pretty sweet planned for the last issue."

The staff and editors of Future Publishing, who publish Nintendo Power, were informed about the forthcoming end of publication last week, Art Technica continued to reveal. The publishing company will now shift their attention towards other projects including GamesRadar and MacLife magazine. Other gaming periodicals for PlayStation and X-Box brands will not be affected by the change.

Nintendo Power was one of the longest running magazines for gaming in the country since it's debut in the summer of 1988. However, the magazine, just as other magazines in the US, has been experiencing a decline in subscribers.

During the first half of 2012, the US magazine industry underwent a decline of 10% in overall circulation numbers. Online sources have become the main tool for gamers looking for information. However, Art Technica reports that Finish Publishing did not want to engage in "digital initiatives" that would sustain the gaming magazine.

It is unclear how many more issues will be released before the last issue is released. Nintendo Power is currently at it's 281st issue and has 475,000 monthly readers, Future press materials report.
