Dominique Strauss-Kahn Divorce: Couple Suing Magazine For Saying They Separated; 'Invasion of Privacy'
Former International Monetary Fund Chief, Dominique Strauss- Kahn, and his lawyers are suing the French magazine Closer for claiming that he divorced his wife, Anne Sinclair. The publication said that Sinclair asked her husband to leave in May, though the cited no sources, according to the Huffington Post.
A statement released by Strauss-Kahn's attorney's said the couple was filing a lawsuit against Closer "for invasion of privacy," making no official mention of the divorce accusations.
The couple, both 63, has been married for 20 years and the accusation was not taken lightly, especially considering the recent scandal in their marriage.Strauss-Khan faced allegations of sexual assault by a New York hotel maid and then in March, he was charged with involvement in prostitution rings in France. He is also being investigated in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a prostitute in 2010.
The claims made by Closer including that the "separated" couple were living in different residences in Paris.
A number of publications believed the reported alleged divorce and ran stories about the difficulties Sinclair and Strauss-Kahn faced in their marriage, hinting that the divorce should have been somehow expected.
On June 29, The New York Times said, "No matter what the sin or scandal, Anne Sinclair bankrolled, excused, protected and even praised her husband, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, with passion and eloquence. She was called a modern-day Joan of Arc...Now...Ms. Sinclair may have decided to move on. And Mr. Strauss-Kahn...will fall deeper into ignominy."
