Virgin Galactic has been planning trips to space since 2004 and now they announced that it will be available, for a fee of course, by December 2013 and can even be bought with the help of frequent flier miles.

The space tourism company has already taken $200,000 deposits from more than 520 people who wish to fly in the aircraft SpaceShipTwo, including Ashton Kutcher, the Huffington Post reported.

They also described an offer for those who cannot simply pay the deposit fee for a spot on the spacecraft. Virgin Airlines is holding a "Mission: Galatic," where fliers of Virgin American, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia can collect frequent flier miles until Aug. 7, 2013 to win a suborbital space flight. Fliers will earn points for every flight purchase on all Virgin airlines until the deadline in August 2013.

The free trip into space might get people spending more of their money just to add up those frequent flier miles.

SpaceShipTwo can carry six passengers and it is launched midair from another "carrier' airplane. Tests have already proving successful, though no tourists have gone onboard yet.

The company's owner, Richard Branson, said that the voyage will be a two-hour trip in sub-orbital space, according to CNN.

"The initial flights will be sub-orbital, which will give people a taste of space," he said. "From there we'll go into orbital flights and maybe one day hotels in space."

According to USNews.com, Space Adventures has been also planning their own galactic journey: a hour-long trip to 62 miles above the earth's atmosphere for a little over $100,000.
