Old Navy T-Shirt Mistake: Crowns Houston Texans Winner of 1961 AFC [Photo]
Clothes retailer Old Navy has made a mistake on one of their t-shirts by giving the Houston Texans the 1961 AFC title. The Houston Oilers, NOT the Texans, won a title in 1961. However, it is not the AFC title that they won, as that particular title did not exist at that time. The AFC title was established in 1970, nine years after the Oilers' victory.
To add more fuel to the embarrassing mistake, the Houston Texans did not even exist at that time, as it was only established in 2002 as part of an expansion program for NFL. The Houston Oilers are now the Tennessee Titans.
Regarding the embarrassing t-shirt mistake, Gap spokesperson Edie Kissko said: "The NFL clothing sold in our Old Navy stores is created by a third party sports licensing company. It is our intention to always provide the best merchandise to our customers and NFL fans. We apologize for this error and are removing the T-shirts."
The shirts have been removed from the stores and also the retailers' online store.
Sadly, this is not the first time Old Navy has made mistakes on their t-shirts. Last year, the company sold a series of college football t-shirts with a serious grammar mistake. The shirts read "Lets go!", rather than "Let's go!"
