Smith, who plays the theatrically devious Fish Mooney on Gotham, spoke with Extra recently and dropped the news that she won't be returning for season 2.

"We're done, I did my year and I had a good time," she said, saying Fish is going out with a bang. "The show is gonna [have] an awesome finale."

Danny DeVito Comments On Robin Lord Taylor As The Penguin on 'Gotham'

Smith did not reveal any big details about her final episode though she did tease, "You never know what Fish might have up her sleeve."

Fish Mooney has been a divisive character among Gotham fans. She is one of the only original characters present on the show and has become the most prominent villain alongside Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), a.k.a. The Penguin.

The actress admitted that she is a fan of comic books and was happy to bring her own character to the Batman universe.

"I've always been a comic book fan so it was definitely a dream to be able to participate in an origin story of Batman with an original character," she said. "Who would of thought in a million years that I would have the opportunity to do that?"

Fish was last seen on a remote island in the latest episode of Gotham so it will be interesting to see if and how she makes her way back to Gotham to cause a little more chaos before she goes.

Gotham returns on Monday, April 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
