The actor was very tight-lipped and cautious when it came to spoilers, in fact at one point even stopping the interviewer from revealing something about the next chapter in his question. "We should not give away the story lines," Spacey said. "We have to accept that we live in a nonspoiler generation. There's people who haven't seen Season 1."

"I will simply say this," he said. "If there are events that happen on the show, people get what they (expletive) deserve."

Spacey also spoke about his background in his theater and his effort to stay consistent with plays over the years, grateful for that time bringing as it gave him House of Cards.

"And I know now, as I sit here tonight, if I hadn't done a play or two every year for the last 12 years, if I hadn't worked for the directors I worked with, if I hadn't taken on the parts I had taken on, I would have never been ready for a role like Francis Underwood," he said. "Everything about what I chose to do over the last decade prepared me for the role I'm doing now."

Season 4 of House of Cards will premiere in 2017.
