When Colin Kaepernick went public with girlfriend Nessa Diab, many believed his hopes to leave San Francisco had something to do with her.

As the host of Hot 97's Afternoon Drive in New York City, Diab is based in the Big Apple, which made Kaepernick's alleged desire to be transferred to the New York Jets suspicious. However, whether he wants to be closer to his girlfriend or not, a source claims Kaepernick is staying put.

"Forget about the salary. Forget about the reports that Colin Kaepernick wants to go elsewhere. The San Francisco 49ers want Kaepernick back on the roster, and that's what they plan to do," Around The NFL's Greg Rosenthal reported on Wednesday.

Report: Will Colin Kaepernick Leave The San Francisco 49ers? QB Wants To Play For Jets

49ers General Manager Trent Baalke revealed earlier today that he "absolutely" expects Kaepernick to remain on the team throughout the upcoming season. As of April 1, Kaepernick's $11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed, which may give him the advantage when it comes to having to complete for the starting quarterback position.

"The good thing is we have two guys that have gone in and proven they can play," Baalke said. "You are going to kick the tires on anyone that's available. ... We feel pretty good about the guys we have, but we're always looking."

Chip Kelly, who was named head coach after the 2015-2016 season, was reportedly hoping to lead Kaepernick wherever he played, and Baalke called their professional relationship a "perfect marriage" for the team.
