There's still nothing that's been confirmed by ABC about the status of the second season of Secrets and Lies, but a combination of assurances from members of the show's crew and a new date being floated around could give fans some finality about when the show will finally return.

There's been a mix of dates thrown out over the months, after the show was initially pushed back from it's planned premiere during Nashville's winter break, but a schedule for episodes on IMDb may be the key to the truth.

According to the site, an episode titled "The Brother" is scheduled to air on July 1, 2016.

However, the site does note that it would be the second episode of the season, with the first, "The Statement," reportedly already having aired on January 1 of this year.

Though there may not be any real concrete information from the IMDb page, since it indicates the show has already begun, the assurances from members of the show's crew-including showrunner Barbie Kligman-on social media that it would be coming back soon and fans just need to keep being patient, could indicate that July is actually when the show would finally premiere.

The possibility that it could have been pushed to July would also work to allow for a time frame that allows ABC to air promos for it, and to release their summer schedule, which they haven't yet done. A summer run would also make sense for the show since it aired in the spring last season, and was initially supposed to have a winter run now.

However, the hold up could just be ABC trying to find the perfect spot for the show, something it did for season one as well. It was given a midseason debut on Sunday, March 1, 2015, after it was initially supposed to get the slot that had been vacated by the early season finale of How To Get Away With Murder. That space was given to American Crime's first season.

American Crime was also the show which bumped Secrets and Lies from this year's winter break lineup as well.
