Johnny Manziel may appear to be spriraling out of control to some, but according to the former NFL quarterback, his friends and family have remained supportive.

In recent months since being cut from the Cleveland Browns, Manziel has been on what appears to be a party tour, traveling from Miami to Los Angeles to to Las Vegas to New York City. But when he was caught in New York City days ago, he acted as if everything was A-okay.

"After a rough weekend in Vegas, Johnny Manziel surfaced in NYC this week," TMZ reported on Thursday. "Manziel hit up Marquee in NYC Wednesday night -- where he continued his party tear ... at one point chugging champagne behind the DJ booth."

And while Manziel's friends and family have expressed serious concern about his health and well-being, claiming he wouldn't make it to his 24th birthday if he didn't get his partying under control, he told the outlet, "My friends and family are alright. They're with me."

Months ago, Manziel's former coach spoke out about his ongoing struggles.

"Pro football is a job," Manziel's former college coach, Kevin Sumlin, said during an appearance on The Audible with Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel, via CBS Sports. "I know from his competitive nature he loves the game. Without a doubt, there's a lot of things going on in his life that if he's serious about playing professional football he's gotta change. Whatever that perception is has become reality for him, and he's gotta look that in the eye and say, 'Alright, here's a situation. Here's what people think ... What are the issues right now?' He's gotta address those.

"He's a great competitor, and when he was here he loved the game of football, he loved to practice, he loved to play the game. That's got to translate in his actions in the clubhouse or with his team," Sumlin continued. "The perception that he doesn't care, he's got to deal with that, and the only way to deal with that is to show up and work at it every day.”
