TV viewers will no longer be keeping up with Khloe Kardashian-Odom on The X Factor.

Fox released a statement announcing that the younger sister of Kourtney and Kim Kardashian will not return to the talent show later this year.

"Khloe Kardashian will not be returning to co-host The X Factor. We really enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors," the statement said.

She and fellow host Mario Lopez joined the show with much fanfare in October 2012. Lopez will be staying on but the decision to axe Kardashian-Odom was widely expected. In an omen, she was mocked for exposing her nipples during the debut broadcast of season two because of a sheer shirt she wore. She also received flak for her hosting abilities.

"Odom came across like the novice she is, shouting her lines despite the mic clutched in her hand and making awkward small talk with contestants and judge and executive producer Simon Cowell," The Washington Post wrote.

The decision to relieve Kardashian-Odom of her duties is another setback for Cowell, who personally picked the reality star for the plum assignment in an effort to boost sagging ratings. However, neither she nor the choice of pop superstar Britney Spears as judge lifted viewership.

Cowell has yet to address Kardashian-Odom's exit, but he did express his excitement about Lopez returning.

"I'm thrilled Mario is back for season three," he said. "Hosting a live show and keeping the judges - especially Demi - in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he's coming back."
