Hundreds of gamblers are taking bets on Kate Middleton giving birth to a boy this July.

After Prince Harry recently told close friends that the baby would indeed be male, Ladbrokes - the British online betting and gaming company - reported more than 750 wagers placed on the royal baby being male.

There was an "unprecedented amount of bets" for the royal baby to be a boy, according to a spokesperson for the company.

Although Middleton hinted in March that she was going to have a girl, Ladbrokes gave a 5/2 chance that she will give birth to a boy, Britain's Mirror News reported.

"A huge gamble is now developing on the Royal Baby to be the future King,” said Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes. "Punters are incredibly excited by the latest news and are rushing to put their money on a boy."

“Harry has been telling everyone Wills and Kate are having a boy and how thrilled he is at the prospect of having a little nephew,” said a source, based on the report. “He said the whole family were excited about it. Apparently Kate has always wanted a boy.”

Regardless of its sex, the newborn will be next in line to take over the throne.

The couple is discussing baby names but a source said they will not publicly discuss information about the baby. While George is a popular boy's name with a 10/1 ratio, there's a 12/1 chance that the baby will be named after Prince William's father - Charles.

Although Middleton has been reported to want a boy, Prince Williams hopes to have a girl as his firstborn.
