Fans are continually getting more information regarding the highly awaited open world action shooter, Mass Effect: Andromeda, as its developers prepare for its March 2017 launch. Now, BioWare has revealed some new technical information regarding the much awaited game by confirming on social media that it will indeed be coming with full high dynamic range (HDR) support.

BioWare's own general manager, Aaryn Flynn, responded to an inquiry on Twitter, via Dualshockers, and confirmed that the game will indeed be coming with full HDR support. Flynn also confirmed that HDR will be coming for the Xbox One S, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and for the Windows PC version of the game.

However, he didn't really specify which type of HDR support will be coming. Nevertheless, the addition of HDR itself will certainly improve the game's overall visuals.

With the use of an HDR-capable display, players should be expecting some expanded contrast and colors when the game arrives. The images and environments within the game should also have more "depth," with colors also expanded to show more vibrant palettes.

HDR Video Explained

HDR for photography and HDR for TV is quite different as they utilize a different method to achieve the same basic results, as per a report from CNET. As the name implies the range of colors and contrast of the image or video are generally expanded, which results in the increase in depth and realism.

For images, HDR systems uses multiple photos to create a single image that mimics a larger dynamic range. On the other hand, HDR TVs simply provides a wider range of contrast ratios and color palettes which then dynamically adjusts the for any given scene.
