Gillette has taken to social media to ask the question, just how does Superman shave?

In the upcoming film Man of Steel, star Henry Cavill went from bearded Clark Kent to clean-shaven Superman. But what to make of Superman's super skin, which would break any normal razor as soon as it touched his cheek?

The razor company enlisted a panel of celebrities  to address the issue.

Science educator Bill "The Science Guy" Nye suggested that Superman might use a Kryptonian blade, as he'd need something stronger than the beard itself to properly cut it off. He also suspected grinding rather then cutting, as it uses less force.

Director and comic book devotee Kevin Smith questioned Nye's Krypton theory -- "Would you shave with death, ladies and gentlemen? Of course not." Instead, he "stakes [his] reputation" on the use of spare parts from the spaceship that brought him to earth.

Actress Mayim Bialik draws upon her neuroscience Ph.D. to get her own "enzymatic follicle denaturation theory," a specialized depilatory that releases hair from its super follicles. It was a product that "prominent Hollywood actresses are interested in having this kind of technology available on a larger scale," as arrows pointed directly at her.

Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman developed some of the crazier theories, one even involved the Large Hadron Collider transporting Superman's beard hairs to another universe.

The shaving issue has already been addressed in other interpretations of the Superman story. On the 1990s program Lois & Clark, Superman is shown to use his heat vision, reflected off a hand mirror, to burn his stubble away.

Still, business publication Forbes lauded the campaign, describing it as "the most awesome movie marketing tie I've heard of in a very long time."

"Getting people talking about how Superman shaves, in a mainstream public conversation, is something fans everywhere should be pretty excited about," wrote contributor Mark Hughes.

Gillette is encouraging fans to vote their favorite at the campaign's website, HowDoesHeShave.com.

Man of Steel is set to open in theaters on June 14. Check out the theories here.
