Actress Jessica Capshaw talked about her Grey's Anatomy character Arizona Robbins and the infidelity crisis she faces when season 10 of the show premieres in the fall, saying that her character and Callie Torres have deep trust issues ahead of them.

In the season 9 finale, Arizona admitted her motive for cheating on Callie with new doctor at the hospital Lauren: She has yet to forgive her wife for breaking her promise that she would save her leg following a plane crash she was in. Callie opted to amputee Arizona's leg and the latter never forgave her.

Capshaw spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in May about her character's storyline and what she hopes to see in season 10. When asked if there is hope for the television couple when season 10 airs, the actress said the following:

"I don't know that anyone knows...I think of the rupture of a relationship and the fallout of infidelity, I don't know that you can get that trust back. Clearly, by the end of the finale, you understand that something for Arizona is permanently damaged and lost."

"For what ever reason, and I don't know that it makes sense or is right or wrong, but Arizona does not forgive Callie," she added.

Starting off season 9, Arizona felt depressed and broken after losing her leg. Once she gets to a good place, Lauren comes along. Capshaw said the new doctor "looks at [Arizona] as an object of affection and Arizona just lets go. She's been holding on so tightly for so long that this is the moment where she's just not thinking straight and lets go."

Speaking about what season 10 ultimately holds for Arizona's character, Capshaw hopes it does not "turn into a year of self-flagellation" for her. She defended her character's infidelity by saying that one bad decision does not make someone a bad person. However, the root of the issue may be something deeper.

"We are not defined by any one choice. [But] I do think that with any kind of infidelity, on some level -- unless you're dealing with a sociopath -- there's always a reason," she said. "There will be an exploration of what that reason was and that will give the Grey's writers fertile ground to play with next season.

"There's always a reason for infidelity, and if anyone was pointing to any reason, it's that on some level Arizona is really angry with Callie and has never gotten over that."
