Patrick Dempsey Teases Upcoming Role When Asked About Real Reason for New Hair Style

"Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey reveals the real reason for his platinum blonde hair transformation and teased details of his next big move.

Dempsey started his acting career in the 1990s and rose to prominence for his role as as neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy". The 56 year old actor also starred in films like "Sweet Home Alabama", "Enchanted", and "Scream 3".

The veteran actor recently debuted his platinum blonde locks at the D23 Expo, an exposition event of the official fan club for The Walt Disney Company, on September 9. The "Enchanted" star was present in the event for his upcoming role in "Disenchanted", the 2022 sequel from his role as Robert Philip.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the "Made of Honor" actor expressed his thoughts on his time at Disney.

"You now, it's really special. You start to look at all the images of how many films I have done and television shows, and all of that. Disney has had a big impact on my life and my family," Dempsey gushed. "It's very special. Tremendous honor."

Dempsey Reveals REAL Reason for New Look

The veteran actor told Entertainment Tonight about his motivation for his platinum blonde locks, and revealed that he will be shooting a film in Rome alongside Adam Driver.

"I'm currently doing a movie in Rome right now that Michael Mann is directing," Dempsey explained. "Adam Driver is starring in it. It's about Ferrari's life in the 1950s and I play [Piero] Taruffi, who is the racer who wins the Mile Miglia in 1957. So, it's been a dream job with a great director. It's fantastic. So, it's a combination of all the things I love."

While the film title has not yet been given, reports reveal that Michael Mann will direct a film inspired by the book "Enzo Ferrari, The Man and the Machine". Dempsey's character, Piero Taruffi, is also known as the "Silver Fox" according to his son, Prisca Taruffi.

Hair Transformation Draws Mixed Reactions

As Patrick Dempsey surprised the world with his new look, he expressed that he received varying reactions on his platinum blonde locks.

The actor went on to say that his kids were shocked at the hair transformation. Aside from his wife, who reportedly liked the new hair-do, only one out of his three children approved of his look.

Meanwhile, fans took to Twitter to gush about the "Grey's Anatomy" alum's new hair reveal.
