Jennifer Carpenter is dating Seth Avett, Us Weekly reported Wednesday.

Sources confirmed to the publication that the Dexter actress and rock folk singer are in a relationship. It was added that the Dexter actress and Avett had been friends before recently becoming a couple.

"Jennifer met Seth about four years ago at a concert," the insider said. "She loves music and has always been a big supporter of the band. The relationship developed over the past few months."

The source said that Carpenter and the 32-year-old front man of the Avett Brothers had a lot in common such as their sense of humor. Their relationship was described as having an ease about it which pleased those closest to the couple.

"There is an ease about their relationship. Friends and family couldn't be happier for them. They are a good match," a source said.

The source also refuted claims that Carpenter and Avett were having an affair. On Tuesday, a report from Radar Online said that Carpenter was a contributing factor to Avett's impending divorce from his wife, Susan, whom he married in 2009.  A source placed blame on the 33-year-old actress. Avett announced on Tuesday that he and his wife were separating.

"They were friends for a long time, but the relationship did not start until he and his wife were separated," the source said. "There is no bad blood there."

Avett's estranged wife offered a statement to the publication and decried the inaccuracies that were circulating in the media.  She denied the speculation that Carpenter caused the breakdown of her marriage.

"It saddens me to hear of such unfounded speculation surrounding the end of our marriage, which is in and of itself a difficult time for both of us," she said. "I ask that for our sake, and the sake of our family and friends, that everyone respect our privacy during this time."
