Actress Olivia Munn talked to Enstars on Wednesday about her character on HBO's The Newsroom, following its season 2 premiere that aired recently, and what fans can expect to see from financial news reporter Sloan Sabbith.

The self-proclaimed "Hollywood Geek" was a guest speaker at the L'Oreal USA Women in Digital "NEXT" Generation Awards in New York City and presented honors to three female leaders in digital technology. Among a room of strong, powerful women, such as herself, the 33-year-old took time to reveal details about her television character.

The new season of The Newsroom premiered on July 14 and this time around, Sabbith holds her own much more on screen. The character advocates for more controversial stories to be reported on and might even have a romance brewing, following the feelings she admitted she had for Don in season 1. The new season also has Sloan build on family ties and strengthen her bond with her brother.

"In season 2, Sloan gets more involved in news stories and pushes for more stories on the administration's anti-terrorism policy and more stories on the drone attacks," Munn said. "And you really get to see this great big brother-little sister relationship between her and Will and a really great relationship that's developed with her and Charlie from last year."

"They had this really intense blowout and from that and the way Sloan handled herself...you now get to see that they have such a great respect and love for each other," she added.

The season 2 premiere got a ratings boost from last year, up 4 percent with 2.2 million viewers on Sunday night. This season highlights more of Sloan as a prominent character, with Munn saying, "you get to see more of the things [Sloan] is confident in and not confident in." Commenting on the economist's appeal to Don and a possible romance stirring, Munn jokingly said, "I kept pushing for a Sloan and Charlie storyline."

"I'm sure there is romance that comes up. its professional but I think it was inevitable," she added. "Everybody will have to just wait and see what happens."

Hanging out on set with her cast mates - Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterston, Dev Patel, Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski and others - Munn said they all get along and there is no divide of girls on guys. Pulling inspiration for her portrayal of Sloan, the actress revealed that she references strong women that she knows and looks up to - even ones who did not have a voice of their own at one point of another.

"I look to people in my life. Friends who are in the work force and to people like my mother or aunts who didn't get to have a voice and didn't get to be strong," Munn said. "I kind of take a lot of inspiration from all the women in my life who are really smart and strong and are great at what they do and don't apologize for it and at the same time still really feminine and beautiful women."

The Newsroom airs Sundays on HBO at 10 p.m. ET.
