Yara Shahidi is set to star in and produce her own rom-com.

The actress well-known for her incredible performances in Black-ish and Grown-ish will be starring in a new Amazon Studios romantic comedy titled Sitting In Bars With Cake.

According to an article on Deadline, the film "follows a quiet young woman who is unlucky in love and discovers an unlikely guy magnet when she bakes a cake for her best friend's birthday and brings it to a bar, only to be swarmed by men. She believes it's a fluke, but her friend convinces her to commit to a year of baking cakes and bringing them to bars, with the goal of finding true love. The shy young woman's life subsequently opens up in ways she couldn't have imagined."

Sitting In Bars With Cake was originally a book and a blog by Audrey Shulman, and Shulman herself has taken on the task of adapting the book into a film script. The movie will be directed by Trish Sie, who is known for her work directing the fun, a-capella classic, Pitch Perfect 3. All in all, we are sure that Sitting In Bars With Cake is in confident and capable hands.

We are excited to see Yara Shahidi take on this fun and facinating new role. She has captivated the attention of many through the years: In an interview with Marie Claire aptly titled Generation Yara, the young star spoke about the incredible basis that Black-ish gave her and those who were involved in the cast going forward:

"You think about just how many directors and writers that have come through and then gone off to do epic things and tell their own super-specific stories. That impact! I don't know if we're ever going to be able to capture the full extent."

We can't wait to see Sitting In Bars With Cake when it hits the screen!
