Kanye West has been directly involved in a federal wire fraud case in Chicago, causing him to receive a subpoena in the trial.

Chicago Tribune confirmed that West received a subpoena in a case involving his former employee, Arjun Dhillon. The former staff is embroiled in a wire fraud case after allegedly trying to scam $250,000 from a philanthropist running an online charity campaign.

Through his attorneys, Dhillon issued subpoenas to the law firm representing West, Pryor Cashman LLP, in the case. The rapper himself also received the same document that could lead him to appear at trial.

However, attorney Sheldon Zenner said that the film and others that are representing West refused to accept service. The "Jesus is King" rapper has not released a statement yet regarding the new development, but his testimony might play a massive role in the trial at Chicago's downtown federal courthouse.

Unfortunately, the refusal got on US District Judge Thomas Durkin's nerves, saying that it is just a matter of time before a federal marshal finds West and gives him the paperwork personally.

What Happened to Kanye West's Ex-Employee?

In January 2020, Dhillon was charged with wire fraud after "falsely representing his association with Kanye West to secure a $250,000 payment" from a wealthy philanthropist's campaign.

The recent indictment revealed that Dhillon was briefly affiliated with Kim Kardashian's ex-husband, but the rapper fired him in October 2018 - a year before the scheme took place.

The ex-employee received an accusation of defrauding a single victim by claiming he was connected with the rapper and that West was willing to support the philanthropist's charity campaign if the victim gave the money to support the rapper's studio design project.

As detailed by PEOPLE, Dhillon reportedly created fake emails to convince the victim of his fake relationship with West.

The jury selection for the trial is expected to begin on April 4.

The new legal issue came amid West's legal drama with his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian. Last month, the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star was declared legally single even after the rapper challenged her request.

West also continuously blasted Kardashian's current beau, Pete Davidson. Recently, he released an alarming music video for his song "Eazy," depicting the comedian being kidnapped, tied, and buried alive.
