Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marvel's upcoming Ironheart series has found its two directors, Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Additionally, Proximity Media, a company founded by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and his close collaborators, has joined the creative team.

Ironheart is a Iron Man-adjacent property about Riri Williams, "a brilliant teenage inventor who, in the comics, builds her own version of the Iron Man suit in an MIT dorm." Williams will be played by Dominique Thorne, who is best known for her roles in If Beale Street Could Talk and Judas and the Black Messiah. Other cast members include In the Heights' Anthony Ramos and This Is Us' Lyric Ross.

Currently, Bailey is set to direct the first three episodes, while Barnes is set to direct the final three. Both directors come from an impressive list of achievements, including Bailey having been the co-creator of the Emmy-nominated Brown Girls and Barnes having directing credits on Mythic Quest and the upcoming season of Atlanta.

The creative team becomes even more impressive if you consider that Proximity Media is also involved. Coogler is executive producing alongside other Proximity collaborators, such as Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout. Head writer Chinaka Hodge, who recently served as a staff writer on Snowpiercer, will also executive produce.

All in all, Ironheart seems to have assembled a truly impressive team. We're excited to see this newest entry to Marvel's television catalogue.
