Fans of comedian Norm Macdonald have been given a gift: A new comedy special by the late comedian, which is set to air as part of Netflix Is A Joke entitled Norm MacDonald: Nothing Special, due out at the end of the month

It has been announced that the special was written by Macdonald while he was battling leukemia during COVID. Hoping to get a final performance out before his death, he couldn't find an open venue due to the pandemic. So, much like comedian Bo Burnham did with Inside, he filmed in his home, performing the nearly one hour of material he had been working on in 2020, with only the camera as an audience.

The entire set was done in one uncut take, according to his producing partner Lori Jo Hoekstra:

"Nothing Special was not originally meant to be the final product. He left this gift for us all."

Leave it to Norm to leave us one last memento before he went. Known for his off-beat sense of humor, Macdonald has always used his dry, meandering delivery to make even the most nonsensical concepts into a gut-busting work of art. It will be a sight to behold to see what he did with the show.

The special will also star several comedians close to Macdonald, paying tribute to their pal, inter-cut with the stand-up routine. Guests include SNL cohort Adam Sandler, former late-night hosts Conan O'Brien and David Letterman, fellow stand-up Dave Chappelle, and longtime friends David Spade and Molly Shannon

Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special will premiere on Netflix on May 30.
