After a 13 season run, The Wendy Williams Show will bid adieu this Friday.

In a strange farewell to the popular daytime talk show The Wendy Williams Show, Variety has reported that the show - which has been without its titular host throughout the 2021-2022 season due to Williams autoimmune disorder - will air the final episode on Friday, June 17th. Though she will not be present for the last airing, a video montage will explore Williams' time hosting the show.

Sherri Shepherd, who has been one of the final guest hosts, will be there to usher out the fond farewell. This also will work as a transition of sorts for Shepherd, given that she will be the host of her own talk show which will begin airing in the fall simply called Sherri.

Back in May, Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, were interviewed by Variety discussed the status of the show and their desire to work with Williams again. Bernstein said,

"It doesn't mean the next day, but we will put it together and figure it out. It's not like we have a Plan B where we hit a button and it's back in a week, but we do have the desire to be in business with her, if she can come back and be healthy, and so does Fox."

Marcus added,

"Other than her health, she could have continued to keep doing it as long as she wanted. She was still getting a rating and she has a die-hard audience that turned it into a profitable show. We were protecting the business while we waited for her. And at some point, we had to say, 'We have a business to run and she's not here.' It was a hard call."

A sad turn of events, given Wendy Williams strong run as a daytime personality. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
