Despite being one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors in his prime years, Bradley Cooper struggled with many problems like addiction. However, one part of his life changed him big time.

The "A Star Is Born" actor spoke to Amazon Music and Wondery's "SmartLess" podcast by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes.

He noted that he had difficulty grappling through his life as he felt "so lost" while working on "Alias" until he was 29 and filming "The Hangover" years later.

Cooper admitted that he was lost and addicted to cocaine. He severed his Achilles tendon when he got fired from "Alias." He also struggled with "zero self-esteem."

The actor credited one of the hosts, Arnett, for making him realize that he needed to change for good.

The two discussed how they suffered from emotional and mental problems as both were recovering addicts.

One of the reasons they changed is because of fatherhood, which positively affected their lives.

"Fatherhood is ... everything changed. Every single thing is absolutely shaded by, or brought into glorious colors, by the fact that I get to be a father to a wonderful human being," the actor said. (via People Magazine)

Cooper then compared his work as an actor to being a father, saying you can have a script or a wonderful moment in an editing room, but there are 40 other memories he could make with his daughter.

Arnett replied, "I did find for me that one of the things that it does do is that it accelerates your work on yourself, because you want to not infect them with the crap you don't have figured out."

Cooper shares a 5-year-old daughter named Lea De Seine with ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk. The actor and the supermodel were never married in the past.

Despite their separation, the two continue to co-parent their child. Shayk previously described Cooper as "the most amazing dad."

In a previous interview, the model described their co-parenting strategies, saying she never understood the term co-parenting, but when she's with her daughter, she's 100% a mom, and Cooper does the same.

In a separate interview, Shayk praised the actor for being a "full-on, hands-on dad" that doesn't need a nanny. She also trusts her ex when it comes to their child, as previously proven when Cooper and Lea went on a holiday trip for two weeks, and she never called once.
