Ellen DeGeneres is speaking out about Anne Heche's "dire" health after the actress was involved in a fiery vehicle accident last week. The two were in a trailblazing romance in the late 1990s so when this tragedy happened, many started to become interested in how the comedian host would react. Some even kept referring to Anne Heche as DeGeneres' ex, to the annoyance of some.

"This is a sad day," the comedian, 64, tweeted on Friday. "I'm sending Anne's children, family and friends all of my love." This is a sad day," on Friday. My heart goes out to Anne's kids and extended family and friends.

James Tupper, Heche's other ex and the father of her 13-year-old son Atlas, also took to his Instagram to express his grief.

The intimate portrait of Heche was accompanied by the statement "love you forever."

A representative reported that Heche was pronounced brain dead on Thursday evening.

In addition, on Thursday, there was also a report claiming "Dancing With the Stars" alum is "not expected to live" due to the condition she is in, but being kept alive to sustain her organs.

Heche "remains in a coma" at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California, according to a representative.

A spokesman said, "It has long been her wish to donate her organs," and the single mother "is being maintained on life support to determine if any are viable."

Surveillance footage from June 5 shows Heche driving her blue Mini Cooper into a Los Angeles residence. After the car caught fire, she was photographed being taken away on a stretcher with "serious burns."

Three days after the tragedy, her representative revealed that she he has a major lung damage requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that necessitated immediate and serious surgical surgeries.

Because of how the accident took place, investigation by the police centered around looking into whether or not the actress had been driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.

The star of "Men in Trees" was allegedly high on cocaine and maybe fentanyl at the time of the accident, according to law enforcement. The LAPD claimed in August 12 morning that they are still looking into the crash.

On Monday, DeGeneres, who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000, made her first brief statement about the split.

The former host of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" said that she did not really know what's happening to Heche because they no longer kept in touch after their split. She however, said she naturally does not anyone hurt.

As one of the few lesbian couples in Hollywood at the time, the pairing of Heche and DeGeneres sparked much debate when it was initially made public.
