"Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler revealed that the franchise's sequel already had a plot before Chadwick Boseman's death.

The cast members of "Black Panther 2" had to continue their journey even after losing Boseman following his death due to colon cancer. He was initially diagnosed with stage 3 of the dreaded illness before it progressed in the years leading to his death.

The "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" director, still, recently revealed that Boseman's supposed movie already had a script.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Coogler talked about the original script and revealed how it was supposed to be a "character study that delved deeply into his psyche."

"The script we wrote before Chadwick passed was very much rooted in T'Challa's perspective. It was a massive movie but also simultaneously a character study that delved deeply into his psyche and situation," he said.

They had to change it because Marvel did not want to recast the role of T'Challa after losing the original star.

Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong'o applauded the team's efforts to make the film honor Chadwick. Because they successfully did it, she reportedly cried after the filming.

The "Black Panther" franchise almost lost director Coogler, as well, as he thought he could not continue making movies. He told EW that he could not make another "Black Panther" movie because the franchise reminded him of their pain.

But a few days after Boseman's death, the filmmaker found a reason to keep going.

In return, the movie gave the cast members and staff a comforting feeling since the movie went on without a CGI double. Instead, "Black Panther 2" chose to honor Boseman.

Chadwick Boseman's Death

In 2016, Boseman acquired stage III colon cancer. But he did not share it with anyone except when his family decided to share his story at the time of his death.

According to his bereaved loved ones, cancer progressed through the years until it reached stage IV.

However, fans noticed something off about his appearance in the months leading to his death.
