Meghan Markle returned to the red carpet last week, and many felt she overstayed as she had to be allegedly told to move forward.

Markle seemingly enjoyed her red carpet return at Variety magazine's Power of Women gala in Los Angeles Thursday evening. She made several poses for the cameras, and her assistant was caught on a video circulating online nudging her to move forward on the red carpet.

The video raised several eyebrows, with many slamming the duchess for continuing to make poses despite being told to stop and move ahead. Many also questioned Markle's love for cameras for someone who had asked for privacy from the press.

"She's such a poser. Even after being pushed to move it, she still keeps posing for the camera," one wrote on X (former Twitter). Another added, "One look at this video, and you know the claim that they wanted privacy was a total ruse. She is ecstatic to be in front of the cameras."

"She acts like the event is solely for her," another netizen wrote with a face with rolling eyes emoji.

A different user claimed that Markle pretended her assistant was a fan and kept on posing. A different user agreed, saying it was "unbelievable" how Markle "reaches for the assistant's hand as though she's greeting a long-lost friend. Then continues to pose and swan around."

Meanwhile, Markle's fans were happy to see her comeback after she maintained a low-key profile in the past months.

"[S]he is so beautiful. And I admire how hard she works to uplift others. Such a great role model," one supporter commented. Another opined, "She's absolutely gorgeous."

"#PrincessMeghan is looking fit, beautiful, young, classy & hot. Let the haters meltdown begin. They will be swarming this website soon in utter, jealous rage & envy. [Face with tears of joy emoji] I [two hearts emoji] this for them," a third Sussex fan wrote.

"She is such a beauty! Really happy to see her back," another said with a smiling face with a heart-eyes emoji.

"So happy to see Meghan start to reclaim her life & to now have a professional team that no longer leaks," a different netizen added.

Markle attended the gala sans her husband, Prince Harry. Richard Kay, Daily Mail's editor-at-large and royal commentator, previously weighed in on the former actress' career after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved from the U.K. to the U.S.A. According to Kay, Markle struggled to launch her career due to Prince Harry's ongoing battle with his family. She also stayed out of the radar to allow her spouse to release whatever he wanted to share about his family.

"Maybe she wanted to put a bit of clear blue water between what he had to say and what she was going to do next, didn't want to taint her brand. However, what is her brand, and will that brand still be there? The longer she's out of the public eye, the harder it will be to kickstart it," Kay said.
