Prince Harry and Meghan Markle called King Charles III to greet him on his birthday, and their conversations made it into the headlines, with some calling them out for the leak.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex raised some eyebrows after the UK's Daily Telegraph reported details about their conversation with the King when they called the latter on his 75th birthday. An unnamed palace insider told Page Six they were "total hypocrites" for not keeping the phone call private.

"Harry and Meghan fight for privacy when it suits them, and yet the minute Harry gets on the phone to the King, it's in a newspaper," an unnamed insider told the outlet.

Prince Harry's biographer, Angela Levin, also shared the same sentiment about the leaked phone call when she appeared on "TalkTV" and spoke with host Mike Graham. The "Harry: A Biography of a Prince" scribe doesn't even believe that Prince Harry would reach out to his father amid their falling out.

"It's very strange for somebody like Harry, who fights for his privacy, to actually tell the world that he's going to call his father," Levin said. "I mean, if it's such a big deal, I think he would keep it quiet and ring him, and it would be soft and gentle, but to make that announcement actually shows his hypocrisy yet again, and it makes no sense to me at all."

In Levin's opinion, Prince Harry was unlikely to call his dad for his special day. However, she believed the Sussexes may have used it as a PR stunt by being friendly, positive and upbeat to be on the papers. Despite that, the royal commentator and biographer didn't think the Sussexes' relationship with the King changed.

"I don't think it's going to change anything or has changed anything," she added.

Meanwhile, an unnamed Sussex source told Page Six that Prince Harry and Markle had nothing to do with the leak of the "warm" phone call with King Charles.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Prince Harry and Markle spoke with his father. Their two kids, son Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, also sent their royal grandfather a video message of them singing "Happy Birthday."

The outlet noted that the father and son will speak again next week as their last conversation marked a "turning point" in their relationship.
